Pilot killed in central Qld plane crash

A male pilot has been killed after his plane crashed on a property in central Queensland.

A pilot has been killed after his plane crashed on a property near Gladstone in central Queensland.

A police spokesman confirmed the male pilot, the only occupant, died after the plane crashed on Catfish Road at Wooderson, west of Calliope, just before 9.30am on Wednesday.

Authorities are yet to confirm the pilot's age and identity.

The incident marks the second light plane crash in less than a week.

Ballina pilot Ian Byrne, 73, had to be freed from wreckage after a crash landing at a private runway at Knockrow in northern NSW on Monday.

He remains in Gold Coast University Hospital with severe injuries.
