Pirate Party beats Canning campaign goal

The Pirate Party has turned to the public to fund its Canning by-election campaign, reaching its $3000 target in under a week.

A micro-party that is against copyright laws and wants to see illicit drugs decriminalised has surpassed a crowd funding goal for its Canning by-election campaign in under a week.

The Pirate Party appealed to the public for donations to pay for candidate fees and advertising, and easily exceeded the $3000 target, backed by more than 50 supporters.

Party candidate Michelle Allen says the Pirate Party understands technology and the internet, and will work towards ensuring transparency in government.
