The Detroit Pistons' top scorer Brandon Jennings will likely miss the remainder of the season with a torn left achilles tendon, the NBA team said on Sunday.
The point guard was injured during Saturday's match against Milwaukee.
The six-year veteran left the Pistons' 101-86 loss late in the third quarter with what the team initially said was a left leg injury.
The normal recovery time for a torn achilles is between seven and 12 months.
Jennings leads the Pistons with averages of 15.4 points and 6.6 assists per game.
Detroit have won 12 of 15 games entering Saturday's game after starting the season 5-23.
