Just one slice of pizza on a doorstep was all police needed to arrest a man for armed robbery.

Police in the NSW southern tablelands say a 37-year-old pizza delivery man was robbed at knife point on a Goulburn street about 11.30pm (AEST) on Wednesday.

It's alleged the thief made off with cash, a mobile phone and pizzas, and ran away along Manar Street.

Investigators say they soon found a pizza slice lying outside a home on the same street.

They spoke to a 26-year-old inside before searching the house, where they allegedly found a knife, cash and pizza boxes.

The man has been charged with armed robbery and spent the night behind bars, ahead of his expected appearance at Goulburn Local Court on Thursday.
