Plan for more anti-terrorism law changes

The next sittings of federal parliament will consider more toughening of counter-terrorism laws.

The federal government plans another round of anti-terrorism law changes in the Spring sitting of parliament.

The changes will cover some of the findings from the Council of Australian Government's review of counter-terrorism legislation.

COAG agreed to keep the control order regime in place to December 2025 with some extra safeguards, as well as bring in a new criminal offence for a person who makes a hoax threat which causes significant alarm.
