Plan to stop child sex abuse in Roebourne

The WA government is finalising its West Pilbara Plan, aimed at addressing intergenerational disadvantage and child sex abuse in the Roebourne area.

Safe houses, specialised drug and alcohol services for children and a residential facility to support families are among the initiatives to stop child sex abuse in and around WA's troubled regional town of Roebourne.

The state government says it is working closely with Aboriginal elders and the community to finalise the West Pilbara Plan, aimed at addressing intergenerational disadvantage and abuse.

Among the projects and initiatives already endorsed are upskilling local service providers on abuse identification and interventions, more youth activities, industry training, a Roebourne Men's Shelter and having the community night patrol focus on youth.
