Prime Minister Tony Abbott has reportedly axed a multi-million tender to renovate Brisbane hotel suites for G20 Summit attendees.

The $8 million tender initially issued by the Prime Minister and Cabinet originally called for refits of rooms booked for visiting presidents and prime ministers, NewsCorp has reported.

A separate tender for an open bar and 24-hour meal service has also reportedly been cancelled.

The Group of 20 Leaders’ Summit, to be held in the Queensland capital on November 15 and 16, will host up to 7000 delegates and journalists.

Guests will include US President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose expected attendance had prompted backlash among the Australia’s politicians and Ukrainian community.
