Acting federal opposition leader Tanya Plibersek has thanked emergency services who helped evacuate people from homes burnt in Victorian bushfires.

Acting federal opposition leader Tanya Plibersek has thanked emergency services who helped families escape a bushfire that razed 116 Victorian homes on the coast.

Ms Plibersek says she is thankful no one died.

"Our thoughts are with all of those people in Victoria who have lost their homes or had to be evacuated from their communities," she told reporters in Sydney on Sunday.
