The upsets continue at Wimbledon with no top-10 stars making the women's quarter-finals at The All England Club for the first time in 50 years of professional tennis.

Seventh seed Karolina Pliskova is the latest big gun to fall, the Czech crashing to a 6-3 7-6 (7-1) to big-hitting Dutchwoman Kiki Bertens.

Pliskova's exit leaves world No.11 Angelique Kerber as the highest-ranked woman left in the wide open draw.

Bertens will play Julia Goerges for a semi-final spot after the German 13th seed ousted Croatian Donna Vekic 6-3 6-2.

Jelena Ostapenko earlier on Monday ended Aliaksandra Sasnovich's giant-killing campaign to be the first woman through to the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

The 2017 French Open winner stormed into the last eight for the first time at The All England Club with a 7-6 (7-4) 6-0 victory in the first of 16 fourth-round singles encounters on so-called Manic Monday at Wimbledon.

Sasnovich had knocked out pre-tournament title favourite and two-time champion Petra Kvitova in round one and Australian hope Daria Gavrilova in the last 32 to make the second week.

But she had no answer to Ostapenko's fearless shot-making, with the Latvian clubbing 28 winners in the 78-minute assault.

The 12th seed will face Dominika Cibulkova next after the Slovakian continued her defiant run with a 6-4 6-1 victory over Su-Wei Hseih.

Cibulkova was somewhat controversially denied a seeding to accommodate returning seven-times champion Serena Williams and expressed her frustrations to officials before cutting a swathe through the draw.

The former Australian Open finalist made another statement on Monday, powering past the Paul McNamee-coached Taiwanese in one hour and 22 minutes.

Williams continues her quest for an eighth title later against Russian qualifier Evgeniya Rodina, with the winner to meet Italian Camila Giorgi, who advanced to her maiden grand slam quarter-final with a 6-3 6-4 defeat of Ekaterina Makarova.
