Bill Shorten wants to know why the federal government is proposing changes to the way superannuation funds are governed.
The coalition plans to introduce new laws to ensure corporate, industry, public sector and retail super funds have a minimum one-third independent directors on their trustee boards, as well as an independent chair.
"Why on earth is Mr Abbott interfering with the administration and the governance of people's retirement savings?" the opposition leader told reporters in Sydney on Friday, while conceding Labor would consider the proposal.
