PNG gets first domestic violence hotline

A domestic violence hotline in Papua New Guinea is expected to be lifesaving for women and children.

The launch of the first domestic violence hotline in Papua New Guinea is expected to save scores of lives.

Donations from ChildFund Australia and $2.3 million in aid from New Zealand will allow the hotline to initially operate for eight hours a day increasing to 12 hours from October.

Australia's Ambassador for Women and Girls Natasha Stott Despoja says the hotline will be life saving because two out three PNG women experience family violence in their lifetime.
