The Refugee Action Coalition is welcoming a possible High Court challenge to the federal government's so-called Papua New Guinea Solution.

Lawyers acting for a client being held on Manus Island were initially going to take the case to the Federal Court, but are now reportedly seeking to have it heard in the High Court.

The Coalition's spokesman, Ian Rintoul, told Aileen Phillips that he'd like to see the High Court declare the PNG deal unlawful.
