Poland evacuates 10,000 after bomb find

Officials are evacuating about 10,000 people in eastern Poland after the discovery of a German World War II bomb by road workers.

Officials have begun evacuating about 10,000 people in eastern Poland after a huge World War II bomb was found during road works.

Buses were collecting residents from the eastern town of Bialystok and neighbouring Suprasl county on Sunday and taking them to schools where they were expected to wait until the bomb was safely removed.

The 500-kilogram German ST-500 bomb was found Thursday. Disposal experts will load it on a special truck and destroy it at a test range.
