Sydney man Omar El Baba told ABC’s Lateline program that he had been sitting in a car outside his family home when officers reportedly asked him to get his licence.

After retrieving it from inside the home, the 23-year-old plumber was allegedly “attacked” by officers, including members of the riot squad.
“They slammed me on the floor then they started kicking me, punching me, kicking my groin area,” he said.

They also allegedly told him “you 'effing' Lebo, that's what you deserve”.

However, police told the ABC that El Baba had been involved in a police chase earlier that evening.

El Baba has been charged with assaulting police, resisting arrest and custody of a knife in a public place. The matter is before the courts.
