Police boat damaged, two destroyed in fire

Police have set up a crime scene in a central Queensland marina to investigate a fire that destroyed two boats and damaged three others.

Two boats have been destroyed and three others, including a police vessel, have been damaged by a suspicious fire at a central Queensland marina.

Police say they have set up a crime scene to investigate the blaze at Rosslyn Bay at Yeppoon, near Rockhampton.

Emergency crews were called to the marina about 9pm Saturday following reports a water police vessel was on fire.

But they arrived to find another boat alight and drifting, while a commercial vessel was also fully ablaze.

Those two vessels were completely destroyed.

Three others - the water police boat, another commercial vessel and a private yacht - sustained heat damage.

No one was injured.

Police say the cause is yet to be determined and investigations are continuing.
