Police in Melbourne are hunting for a bandit who has stolen bows, arrows and credit cards in a spate of opportunistic thefts.

Police are hunting for an opportunistic thief who has stolen bows, arrows and credit cards in Melbourne.

Police say the man stole two bows, and up to 15 arrows when he swiped a bag from a panel beating shop in Kensington about three weeks ago.

Investigators believe the same man stole credit cards from a car parked in Elsternwick about the same time and later used them at convenience stores in St Kilda and Caulfield.

Police have released images of a man they want to talk to and are appealing for public help to find the stolen items.
