Mel Gibson repeatedly asked a Sydney photographer to stop harassing him, but his US publicist says the actor didn't physically attack her.
A Daily Telegraph photographer claims she was berated by Gibson, who was with his girlfriend Rosalind Ross, as he was leaving an Israeli Film Festival screening in Paddington on Sunday.
"He was spitting in my face as he was yelling at me, calling me a dog, saying I'm not even a human being and I will go to hell. It was non-stop, he didn't even breathe," photographer Kristi Miller told the paper.
However, Gibson's representative, Rogers & Cowan, has told AAP, that he did confront the photographer but not in the aggressive manner Miller has claimed.
"Basically Mr Gibson and his friend were being harassed by this photographer and he asked her repeatedly to stop, which she did not," a spokesman for Rogers & Cowan said.
"There was never any physical contact whatsoever and the story being told by her is a complete fabrication of the truth."
Coincidently, the incident occurred while Gibson was attending the Israeli Film Festival at the Palace Verona Cinema, nearly 10 years since the actor found himself in hot water over anti-Semitic remarks he made toward a policeman in the US.
Police have confirmed they are investigating reports that Oscar-winning actor pushed Miller.
A police spokeswoman said the incident happened at 6.20pm on Sunday and that witnesses should contact police.
