A child care centre in South Korea is under investigation after a four-year-old child was assaulted.

The employee at the daycare centre in Incheon, in the north-west of the country, reportedly lost her temper with the child because she refused to eat her kimchi.

Other children watched on as the child was slapped across the room.

The incident has caused outrage in South Korea and many have called for the woman to be jailed.

Reports said the parents of the girl were outraged after seeing the footage, which was aired on KBS News.
