Police officer hit by car in Melbourne

A police officer has been hit by a car allegedly driven by a man who was the subject of a noise complaint in suburban Melbourne.

A man who allegedly drove his car at a police officer and injured him has been subdued with capsicum spray and arrested in suburban Melbourne.

The officer was pushed into a parked car and received minor injuries.

Police went to the Bayswater North home about 4pm (AEST) on Wednesday after neighbours made a noise complaint.

The 40-year-old man tried to drive off with a young girl in the car, police said.

He stopped after hitting the officer and the girl got out of the car unhurt, they said.

The man, from Bayswater North, was capsicum sprayed and arrested after he refused to get out of the car.

He is being interviewed by police.
