Police resume 2002 murder case search

Police will return to a property on Sydney's northern fringe for a second day as part of investigations into a 2002 murder case.

A police search of a property on Sydney's north will resume on Wednesday after new evidence emerged in a 2002 murder case.

Jason Friend was shot in the head while he slept in West Hoxton 13 years ago.

His wife Catherine Friend was charged with murder and is currently serving 18 years in jail but police believe someone else was involved in the shooting.

Police said they had reopened the case after receiving fresh information that led to an ongoing search for a firearm and other evidence related to the case.

Police are searching a semi-rural property in Berrilee.
