Police seek McCulkin murders informant

Queesnland Police are desperate to reconnect with an anonymous caller who gave investigators important information about the cold-case McCulkin murders.

The call came after charges were laid over the 40-year-old murders of Brisbane mother Barbara McCulkin and her young daughters.

Queensland police are now desperate for this person to call back.

Vincent O'Dempsey, 76, and Gary Reginald DuBois, 67, are accused of murdering Barbara McCulkin, 34, and her daughters Vicki, 13, and Leanne, 11, who disappeared from their Brisbane home in January 1974.

The anonymous caller contacted Crime Stoppers last week, two days after O'Dempsey and DuBois faced court.

The information provided was of "considerable interest" to investigators" and police on Friday appealed for them to reconnect.

"The caller's identity can be protected. We just need to speak to them about their information," Detective Inspector Mick Dowie said.

Police can't reveal the nature of the information given court proceedings are underway.

O'Dempsey and DuBois remain in custody and their case returns to court on November 24.
