British police say they have decided to take no action following an investigation of former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson's assault on a BBC producer.
The broadcaster sacked the hugely popular but controversial presenter of the motoring show after a BBC investigation found him guilty of an "unprovoked physical and verbal attack" on Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon that was "halted by the intervention of a witness."
Tymon said he did not want to press criminal charges against Clarkson, 54, who reportedly flew into a rage when he failed to get a late-night steak and was only offered cold cuts at a hotel where the crew stayed after filming.
Police said they had spoken to Tymon and other people who witnessed the incident.
"Now that all the interviews are complete, we have properly established that there is no need for further police action," the police said.
More than a million fans had signed an online petition urging the BBC to reinstate Clarkson.
