Police use taser to ward off knife attack

Police have shot a man with a taser after he grabbed a knife and tried to assault another man at a hostel in central Queensland.

Police have used a stun gun to subdue an attacker who went at another man with a knife in central Queensland.

Police were called to a disturbance involving two men at a Rockhampton hostel just after 10pm on Thursday night.

As officers spoke to the pair, one of them grabbed a knife and attempted to assault the other man.

Police shot the armed man with a taser.

The 48-year-old has since been charged with assault and obstructing police. He'll face the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Friday.

The other man wasn't hurt.
