Police want help solving 2009 Sydney death

Police are renewing appeals for information as investigations continue into the suspicious death of a man in Sydney's west in 2009.

Investigators are asking for help from the public as they try to piece together how a man died in Sydney's west seven years ago today.

Emergency services were called to a unit block on Fullagar Road in Wentworthville at about 3.45am on April 18 2009 amid concerns for a man's welfare.

It was there they discovered the body of 48-year-old Hugo Fifi on the stairwell of the unit block.

Detectives and specialist forensic officers combed the area and a strike force was established to investigate the suspicious death.

Investigators say co-operation of key witnesses has allowed police to make significant progress, and they are now poised to renew an appeal for information as they try to solve the case.
