Clive Palmer believes federal politicians should only be allowed to serve two terms - and it's an idea he says he will follow.

The leader of the Palmer United Party thinks career politicians should be eliminated, so the country has fresh ideas.

"We've got guys that stay there for 30 or 40 years, many of them should still be in nursing homes," he told Sky News on Tuesday, insisting two terms will be enough for him.
