Just a few days out from the federal election and the polls continue to reflect badly for Labor. The latest ReachTEL poll has Tony Abbott as preferred Prime Minister with 52.9 per cent of respondents saying he would do a better job.

It also shows support for businessman Clive Palmer up two points to 4.4 per cent.

In western Sydney, Liberal candidate Jaymes Diaz continues to evade the media, refusing interviews even with local newspaper the Blacktown Sun. It follows a disastrous interview with a Network Ten journalist earlier in the election campaign which made international headlines. He has, however, been spotted out campaigning in the electorate of Greenway.

Kevin Rudd’s brother is following in the footsteps of other political siblings who have "gone rouge" and publically opposed their high-profile kin. Greg Rudd is backing LNP candidate David Lin in the seat of Rankin, because, he says, it’s time the Queensland electorate had a non-Anglo Saxon MP.

Tony Abbott’s sister Christine Forster is a Liberal Party member but clashes with her brother on the issue of same-sex marriage, while Bob Katter’s brother Carl is a notable critic of the Queensland icon.

Activist group GetUp will report three commericial television networks to the competition watchdog, Fairfax reports, over their refusal to air an advertisement critical of anti-Labor coverage in Rupert Murdoch-owned newspapers.

In other news, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd received heat this morning from Reserve Bank board member and Fairfax chairman Roger Corbett, who said Labor should have stuck with Julia Gillard as leader.

Labor and the Coalition continue to bait each other over costings, with Finance Minister Penny Wong doing battle with Shadow Finance Minister Andrew Robb in an exchange of terse press releases.
Tony Abbott says his party will release costings once they have announced all new policies sometime around the middle of this week.

And on the lighter side of the election trail, Twitter has been chirping of late with this vintage photo of the Deputy PM... which has been nicknamed "hot Albo".
