Polls open in Turkey presidential election

Polls have opened in Turkey's presidential elections.

Polling stations across Turkey opened on Sunday in the country's first-ever direct presidential election that is expected see Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan sweep to victory as head of state.

Around 53 million voters were to cast their ballots at more than 165,000 pollings stations, pitting Erdogan against two other challengers. Polls are due to close at 1400 GMT.
