'Pomicide': How the world reacted to Australia's Ashes disaster

Cricket fans have swamped Twitter after Australia served up one of its worst days of Test cricket at the Ashes.

o
The first day of the Ashes test been labelled a "pomicide" and a "shocker" after the English side finished the day with a 214-run lead, six wickets in the shed and one hand on the urn.

The whole day was summarised in 140 characters on Twitter:
Australia's leading newspapers also made no bones about the loss, with the front page of the Daily Telegraph's sport section featuring a picture of Michael Clarke with the words, "Embarrassed. Demolished. Humiliated” branded over the top.
Australian fans were no kinder, with many lamenting the dismal play on social media, and some blaming Michael Clarke.
British fans and commentators meanwhile, were over the moon.
But perhaps the most extreme reaction to the result was from Today Show presenter Karl Stefanovic, who got naked on live TV after promising to do so if Michael Clarke failed to score a century in the first innings.
Or maybe it was from former cricketer Ian Healy, who appeared to blame the players’ wives and girlfriends.

"All their partners are here and some of the most respected cricketers I played with hated that distraction," he stold Channel 9. "They weren’t allowed on tour until after the series had been won.

"Your mind needs to be completely focused on it. Cricket is a sport that requires complete concentration.

"You need everything going for you and I’m not sure they’re pushing for that hard enough."
