Port Adelaide's injury-prone duo Jackson Trengove and Angus Monfries have been cleared to play against Carlton in Friday night's AFL fixture.

Trengove (ankle) and Monfries (hip) were both late withdrawals from Port's win against Gold Coast last Saturday.

But Port coach Ken Hinkley says the pair, and onballer Hamish Hartlett who rolled an ankle against the Suns, will front against Carlton.

Their selections, and this week's return to state league ranks of defender Campbell Heath from a knee reconstruction, mean only long-term knee injury victims Sam Colquhoun, Jarrad Redden and Brent Renouf are unavailable for the Power.

"It's good management," Hinkley told reporters on Wednesday.

"(Fitness coach Darren Burgess) Burgo and the medical team have done a great job to get everybody back in the shape that we need them.

"It just gives you a little bit of comfort.

"It's a combative sport that we play - there is probably going to be another injury or two that comes along our way and if we have got a healthy list, that allows us to cover those people."

Port sit in fifth place on the ladder, one win behind fourth-placed Fremantle, and Hinkley believed his side had recovered from form slump that resulted in a slide from top spot - but he was uncertain how far away the Power were from their peak.

"I'm not sure is the honest answer," he said.

"I think the last couple of weeks we have been back in some reasonable form."

Port's encounter against 13th-placed Carlton is the South Australian club's sole Friday night game this season - and Hinkley wants more of the primetime slot next season.

"You earn the opportunity to play Friday night football," he said.

"This is our one and only chance this year and hopefully next year we'll get a few more opportunities.

"But we'd like to make sure that are going to have a full house there - there's only 1,000-odd tickets left.

"We then need to make sure we play some really strong football so we can get more of them."
