Port coach wary of Richmond onballers

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley says Dustin Martin isn't the only Richmond player that the Power need to curtail in their AFL match.

Red-hot midfielder Dustin Martin isn't the only Richmond player worrying Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley.

Martin enters Friday night's AFL fixture against the Power in career-best form, but Hinkley is also wary of the Tiger's teammates.

"Every side has tried to stop him the last few weeks but Dusty, to his credit, has been in really good form," Hinkley said.

"That is what the best midfielders in the competition do, they get on some good form.

"We are obviously going to do everything we can to try and restrict him - and (Trent) Cotchin and (Mitch) Grigg and (Brandon) Ellis and whoever else is playing through their midfield, (Brett) Deledio, (Shane) Edwards.

"There's a lot of them. We will do our absolute best to try and restrict anyone having too big an impact."

Hinkley's Port sit in ninth spot on the ladder and Richmond are 11th - they're among five clubs with six wins and seven losses this season.

That makes the result of the Adelaide Oval clash crucial for both clubs, as the loser will slip three wins outside the top eight.

"It's a must-win game, isn't it," Hinkley said.

"It's a must play to our ability. That is what it must be for us as much as anything.

"A lot of times you spend worrying about the end result, I think we have got to worry about the first contest, the first opportunity to play the way we want to play and that will hopefully give us the opportunity to win."
