Port feel pinch from AFL losses: Jonas

Port Adelaide have learnt invaluable lessons from consecutive losses to open their AFL season, Power defender Tom Jonas says.

Port Adelaide are feeling the pinch from consecutive AFL losses, defender Tom Jonas says.

But Jonas is adamant the Power have learnt invaluable lessons in defeat to heavyweights Sydney and Fremantle.

"It probably creates a little bit more pressure," Jonas told reporters on Monday.

"It's a good lesson though, to play two really good sides early on. It shows you where your game is at and where you need to get it to.

"We can wait until round 22 to learn those lessons or we can learn them right now early in the year and deal with it and improve from that."

Port will be without backman Jarman Impey for Saturday's away encounter against North Melbourne.

Impey was having scans on a hamstring tear on Monday as Jonas was among a Port leadership group meeting that went longer than usual.

"We review everything," he said.

"We played a really good side on the weekend so there is a heap to learn from them.

"We worked really hard over the pre-season. We know we have got the base to do it and everything in place to play good footy, it's just we're not putting it all together.

"We have got very high standards and Port Adelaide footy is a very hard working brand of footy. We just feel like we have a little way to go in getting everything to gel."
