Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor is adamant the club is still headed in the right direction despite dropping to outright last on the NRL ladder after their 28-16 loss to Parramatta on Monday night.
The Tigers led 16-12 at halftime but were shutout in the second half as they were bombarded by a Semi Radradra aerial assault.
Without State of Origin duo Robbie Farah and Aaron Woods, as well as injured halfback Luke Brooks, the Tigers slumped to their seventh loss from eight games ahead of next week's bye.
Taylor has been stringent in his belief that his side have showed signs of improvement since he took over from Mick Potter during the summer and said the effort was there again against the Eels.
This time last season they were in equal fourth spot, but 10th on points differential.
Asked what was a pass mark for the rest of the season, he said: "Performances. We want strong performances. (And) that's what we got tonight.
"I know you guys and everybody out there's focused on the competition table and the scoreboard at the end of the game but we're all working really hard to turn this club around.
"We've been a long way off for a lot of years and right now on the table we're still a long way off but the training that's being done each week at our club, the attitude of the players each week at our club and the performance tonight is all positive."
Taylor said he would also approach referees boss Tony Archer during the week to discuss a 12-4 caning they copped in the penalty count.
"12-4 penalty count for the game, 41 sets to 29, (it's as) simple as that. We made something like 75 more tackles," he said.
"We've been looking for performances and that was a really strong one tonight under really tough conditions in the way that the opposition kept getting penalties and we got hardly any and it was tough.
"I need to go and have a look at (the penalties).
"There's a tackle and the ball comes out and nobody can tell what happened so we'll have a look at that and I'll talk to Tony Archer about that situation."
