Power outage plunges tech show into dark

Large parts of the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas were plunged into darkness as a power outage struck the technology show.

Several of the halls at the Las Vegas Convention Center were affected by the blackout, which comes just a day after heavy rain caused issues at the venue.

Tech giant Google was unable to open its outdoor booth after it was partially flooded while there were multiple reports of leaks inside the centre.

Big name firms Sony and Intel were among the companies who saw their showpiece booths cloaked in darkness following the power cut.

The show's official Twitter account said it was working to restore power to the event, which is one of the largest in the electronics industry.

The four-day event is expected to be attended by more than 170,000 people.
