Power restored after Sydney blackout

Power has been restored following a blackout that shut down 42 traffic lights, and 30,000 homes and businesses in Sydney.

Power has been restored to 30,000 homes and businesses, and dozens of traffic lights following a two-hour blackout in Sydney.

Power went down around Eastwood, Ryde and Rhodes about 5pm on Friday because of a fault in the network at an Ausgrid substation in Meadowbank.

Forty-two traffic lights also lost power around the area, including on major routes Victoria Road and Homebush Bay Drive.

Power was restored about 7.15pm.

A four-car crash on Concord Road in Concord West occurred shortly after the power outage but it's not known whether the two incidents are linked.
