Aid organisations are on high alert in Vanuatu as Tropical Cyclone Pam tracks towards the capital of Port Vila, with strong winds already being felt across the nation's northern islands.

Cyclone Pam is already a category four storm and is northeast of the northern island of Sola.

CARE Australia's Program Director in Vanuatu, Inga Mepham tells Van Nguyen she's worried for the residents living in buildings that aren't resilient.
