A toddler who is fighting for life after being pulled from a backyard pool is expected to wake up once sedatives wear off, allowing doctors to assess him further.

Doctors have told worried mother Philippa Wirangi it is likely that Eli, who will be two years old next week, will have brain damage because he was starved of oxygen for 45 minutes.

Eli was pulled from a portable backyard pool at his grandparents' house in Noranda on Tuesday and remains at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Ms Wirangi posted on Facebook on Thursday that Eli's cooling pad, which managed his temperature, had been turned off and as the sedatives wore off he would warm up.

"As this happens, it gives Eli a chance to wake up and show us what he can do without the influence of the sedatives," she wrote.

Eli and his parents have also been visited by an Aboriginal bush healer.

Ms Wirangi said she and Eli's father Daniel were "absolutely blown away and overwhelmed" by the community support.

"So many prayers, so many hugs, lots of food, and also the monetary donations we are receiving is astounding," she wrote.

"This is what Christmas is about - the rallying of love and kindness and gratitude."

Ms Wirangi has described her son as a "beautiful and gorgeous boy" who is full of character.

"Your prayers coming in from all over the world are so strong," she said on Wednesday.

More than $4400 has been raised so far through a GoFundMe page to help pay for Eli's medical costs.

An 18-month-old girl in the Wheatbelt town of Northam was also taken to hospital on Tuesday after being rescued from a backyard pool, but she was sent home after being treated.
