Price is bright after thrashing Bradford

Steve Price's Warrington had a big win in the fifth round of England's Challenge Cup while Widnes ran riot in a record-breaking 90-0 demolition of Coventry.

Steve Price is happy Warrington have avoided a potential banana skin after his side defeated Bradford 54-6 in the fifth round of the Challenge Cup.

Winger Josh Charnley was at the heart of the 10-try rout at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, touching down four times as he passed 1000 career points.

Former South Sydney NRL premiership-winner Bryson Goodwin finished with a personal tally of 20 points as he claimed a hat-trick of tries and kicked four goals.

"It was a professional display as these can be awkward games against lower league opposition," former St George Illawarra coach Price said.

"It was a testament to the character of the group that we replicated the game plan and stayed at it and it was a great opportunity for some of the young guys who have not had a great deal of game time.

"I'm happy with how relationships are getting built but there's still a lot of improvement left in us.

"Our club has done quite well over recent years in the Challenge Cup and we have high expectations to do really well this year.

"Credit to Bradford, they are a well-coached team under John Kear and they threw a lot at us early on and their fans who showed up were very passionate. It would be great for Bradford to get back on the map again after all the history and success they had in the past."

One downside for the Wolves was another knee injury suffered by England forward Ben Currie, who was forced to limp from the field in the first half after scoring two tries.

"We hope it's not too serious but he will go for scans on Monday and we will know more then," Price said.

In Saturday's other clash Widnes rewrote the record books as they hammered Coventry Bears 90-0 to record their biggest-ever victory.

Denis Betts' side were in control from the first minute to the last, running in 17 tries to surpass the 88-0 scoreline they racked up against Saddleworth Rangers in 2009.

Danny Craven scored four tries while former Wests Tigers playmaker Rhys Hanbury and Patrick Ah Van touched down for trebles as Tom Gilmore kicked 11 conversions.
