West Coast midfielder Matt Priddis says Monday night won't be the last time AFL star Nat Fyfe wins a Brownlow Medal.
Priddis was just a few votes away from claiming a second medal in as many years, finishing runner-up to Fyfe in the count.
The result flips the 2014 count, when the Fremantle midfielder, though ineligible, ended up a vote behind his fellow Western Australian.
And while Priddis might have felt disappointment in coming so close to becoming just the seventh man to win back-to-back Brownlows, he had nothing but praise for his contemporary.
"He was clearly the best player in the competition all year and to do it missing a few games as well shows how good a year it was," he said.
"He's a very deserving winner and I'm so happy for him."
At 24, Fyfe is the youngest winner since Adam Cooney in 2008, and Priddis said there could well be more in the future.
"He could win a handful of these," he said.
"It's frightening. His future is very bright."
The Eagles have the chance to succeed where the Dockers fell short, by beating Hawthorn in Saturday's grand final at the MCG.
Priddis said all his attention was centred on the decider.
"From the age of seven, all I've ever wanted to do is play in a grand final and win one," he said.
"So I've got the opportunity this Saturday and can't wait."
