Prince set for Glastonbury: report

Prince has reportedly landed the headline spot on the final night of 2014's Glastonbury Festival.

The full line-up for the upcoming UK festival is yet to be officially announced, but the most coveted slot on the iconic Pyramid Stage has been given to the Purple Rain hitmaker, according to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper.

Prince - who has never performed at the festival before - is said to have been convinced by organiser Michael Eavis to close to the festival on June 29.

"They met in London and a deal was struck. The reaction towards Prince during his time in the capital has been immense and it cemented his desire to play at Glastonbury," a source told the Daily Mirror.

"He is determined to raise the bar and give a set to remember. There will be a few surprises in store."

Prince is currently in the UK playing a series of intimate gigs with his band 3rdEyeGirl.

Other acts including Metallica, Kasabian, Outkast and Dolly Parton are rumoured to be in the Glastonbury line-up.
