Tough Sydney forward Ben McGlynn says he feels privileged to have played so much of his AFL career alongside Lance Franklin. heading into a grand final which might be his last game for the Swans.
McGlynn, 31 is coming off contract and wants to keep playing for Sydney and had talks with them midway through the season.
He will make a decision about his future in the weeks after Saturday's game against the Western Bulldogs.
"I want to keep playing on, but if thats not the case, I'll sit down with my wife and my manager and work out whats best for me going forward," McGlynn told AAP..
McGlynn made his debut for Hawthorn in 2006 when Franklin was in his second season.
The tenacious small forward went on to play 44 times for Hawthorn in four seasons before switching to Sydney
Another fringe Hawk, midfielder Josh Kennedy, who had played 13 times in two seasons, was also traded to Sydney at the same time.
McGlynn and Kennedy were reunited with Franklin in late 2013, when the flamboyant forward switched to the Swans.
"I played with him (Franklin) at Hawthorn and he did some freakish things back then," McGlynn said.
"'He's still doing freakish things now. It's been a privilege to have played with him most of his career."
Kennedy has played every season of his career alongside McGlynn.
Kennedy only played regular senior football when he came to the Swans, as his path at Hawthorn was blocked by thtee formidable men who played in McGlynn''s debut game and are still at the Hawks.
"Josh didn't get a great opportunity at Hawthorn, he was ( behind) a midfield of (Luke) Hodge and (Sam) Mitchell and (Jordan) Lewis , it was hard for him to break in,'" McGlynn said.
"He's been probably one of the most consistent players of the last five to six years that I've seen in the game."
McGlynn missed the 2012 grand final win over Hawthorn with a hamstring injury and was in the side walloped by the Hawks in the 2014 season decider.
For a time it looked like 2016 would add to his late season tales of woe, as he was dropped after round 17.
McGlynn has enjoyed a late season form spike which has given him another shot at an elusive premiership medallion
Since being recalled for the penultimate home and away round McGlynn has kicked 11 goals in five games and laid plenty of tackles.
