Profits surge for Brumby's owner

A swathe of acquisitions has helped the company behind Donut King and Brumby's bakeries lift full year profit by 50pct to $55.1m.

The company behind Donut King, Gloria Jean's cafes and Brumby's bakeries, has lifted its underlying annual profit by nearly 50 per cent and expects further growth in the year ahead.

Retail Food Group's underlying profit, which excludes the impact of acquisition, integration and restructuring costs, rose to $55.1 million in the year to June 30.

Revenues surged 47 per cent to $247.5 million thanks to a swathe of acquisitions including Gloria Jean's, Di Bella Coffee and Cafe2U.

Statutory net profit fell 7.2 per cent to $34.2 million from $36.86 million in 2013/14.

The company said it expects its underlying profit to rise by 20 per cent in 2015/16 and will continue its expansion, with 230 new outlets commissioned.

Shares in the group were up by 55.5 cents, or 11.6 per cent, at $5.355 by 1102 AEST.
