Brazilian defender David Luiz could make his competitive debut for Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday after being included in the squad to face SC Bastia at the Parc des Princes.

The 27-year-old, who reportedly cost around E50 million ($A75m), a world record fee for a defender, when he signed from Chelsea in June, has recovered from a nagging calf problem to take the place of compatriot Thiago Silva in the squad for PSG's first home game of the new Ligue 1 campaign.

Silva suffered a hamstring injury in Monday's 2-1 friendly victory against Napoli that PSG said will rule their captain out for "several weeks".

David Luiz made his debut for the club in that game after being allowed an extended summer break following Brazil's World Cup campaign.

However, he is likely to start the match against the Corsicans on the bench for Laurent Blanc's side, with Zoumana Camara and Marquinhos expected to partner one another in central defence.
