Australia's national charity regulator says public trust in the sectory is high.

According to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission, or ACNC, Australians associate value to a charity if they clearly understand its work and funding distribution.

Commissioner Susan Pascoe says a report by the ACNC found that perceptions of a charity's activities and its ability to make a positive difference are strong drivers of public support.

Ms Pascoe spoke to Zara Zaher about the research findings.
