PUP seeks candidates for Vic election

The Palmer United Party has been registered in Victoria to contest the state poll as Victoria-born Clive Palmer vows to deliver 'much-needed leadership'.

Clive Palmer is on the hunt for Victorian candidates as his party eyes off seats in the state's parliament.

The Victorian Electoral Commission formally approved the Palmer United Party's registration this week, enabling it to contest the state election on November 29.

Mr Palmer said the party was searching for potential candidates to run for seats in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.

"The Palmer United Party is looking forward to taking on the major parties in Victoria, where the incumbent Liberal-National Party minority government is in constant turmoil," Mr Palmer said in a statement on Wednesday.

"In many respects, Victoria has been forgotten by the major parties, and the state is facing an economic crisis with the pending closure of the two Ford Australia plants.

"As a Victorian-born Australian I will ensure the Palmer United Party rectifies that situation and provides much-needed leadership."
