Pyne won't blame Turnbull for leaks

Christopher Pyne says he doesn't accept that his cabinet colleague Malcolm Turnbull is behind a series of leaks to the media.

Cabinet minister Christopher Pyne says he doesn't accept that Malcolm Turnbull is behind a series of cabinet leaks.

Mr Pyne says the leaking of cabinet discussions and ministerial speaking notes to the media had sparked only "minor stories".

Asked if he conceded the communications minister Mr Turnbull was behind the leaks, he said: "Certainly not."

Asked if Prime Minister Tony Abbott was finished if the government failed to win the September 19 Canning by-election in Western Australia, Mr Pyne said he believed the Liberal candidate would win.

"I wouldn't be putting too much in the store by the result in Canning but I do believe we will win it," he told the Nine Network.
