Queensland's attorney-general is appealing the sentence handed to a serial sexual predator who filmed himself performing a sex act next to sleeping women and children.
John William Goodwin was last month sentenced in the Brisbane District Court to eight years' jail on 154 offences, including recording in breach of privacy, burglary and sexual assault.
The 41-year-old filmed 64 women and children, aged eight to 50, in their Brisbane homes over seven years until 2012.
He broke into some of his victims' homes while they were sleeping and filmed himself masturbating next to them.
Goodwin also filmed some of the women and children through windows and doors while his victims were on the toilet or undressing.
Footage and items stolen from the homes were found by police during their investigation.
He will be eligible for parole in June next year due to time served during pre-sentence custody.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie said he had directed the Director of Public Prosecutions to appeal the sentence.
He said the jail term was manifestly inadequate, not in line with community expectations and didn't set a deterrent for others.
