Queensland's ambulance service says it has received a report that a 16-year-old girl has been struck by lightning in Burpengary.

A 16-year-old girl may have been struck by lightning in southeast Queensland, emergency services say.

An ambulance is on its way to Burpengary, north of Brisbane, after receiving a call that lightning had hit a girl.

There are thunderstorms and heavy rain across southeast Queensland as a low pressure system crosses the region.
