A 10-year-old Queensland boy has been charged after an eight-year-old boy suffered serious burns to a third of his body in a backyard fire.
It's alleged the eight-year-old was with two other boys in the backyard of a Mt Isa home about 6pm on Saturday when a tyre was set alight.
The 10-year-old is accused of pouring petrol onto the burning tyre and the younger boy's clothes caught fire in the flare-up.
He suffered burns to about 35 per cent of his body and was airlifted to Townsville Hospital, where he is in a stable condition.
The 10-year-old has been charged with trespassing, stealing, wilful damage by fire and negligent acts causing harm, and will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
