A 13-year-old teenage boy has suffered severe burns to his arms, face and legs when a lighter and deodorant can sparked a Gold Coast bus fire.

A teenage boy has been severely burned after setting himself on fire while playing with a deodorant can and lighter on a Gold Coast bus.

The 13-year-old suffered burns and blisters to his face, arms and legs after starting a small fire on a moving bus at Upper Coomera around 1.15pm.

The bus was evacuated but there were no reports of other injuries.

He has been taken to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in a serious condition.
