A Queensland police officer and his wife have been accused of running police checks on people being targeted by a relative who was a private investigator.
Senior Constable David Francis O'Neill and his public servant wife Miranda Jane O'Neill, a former police officer, appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
In court with them on similar charges was Jon Robinson, who is understood to be Mrs O'Neill's brother-in-law and a private investigator.
Police allege the O'Neills ran police checks on people, businesses and vehicles for Mr Robinson, who used the information for surveillance purposes.
All three are facing multiple charges of using a restricted computer without consent and misconduct in relation to public office.

The alleged offences occurred between February 2011 and January 2012.
O'Neill, 53, who is based at Redcliffe, north of Brisbane, has been suspended from duty.
The matter was adjourned until August 23.
